Energy Efficient Insulation Solutions You Can Trust

What is spray foam?
Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is a spray-applied plastic foam widely used to insulate buildings and seal cracks and gaps. Spray foam products make buildings more energy-efficient and comfortable offering greater temperature even in extreme temperatures. SPF insulation is known to resist heat transfer extremely well, and it offers a highly effective solution in reducing unwanted air infiltration through cracks, seams, and joints. It also allows architects and designers to use one multipurpose product for energy reductions in your home or commercial space.
Versatile, spray foam can be sprayed into an open cavity, such as new construction, attics, crawl spaces, and basements. Best of all it can also be used in existing homes, commercial buildings, and pole barns. The experts at Healthy Homes can apply spray foam anywhere!
"Open Cell" vs Closed Cell Spray Foam
- Open cell foam is called “open” because once it’s applied there is a little room left inside each foam cell (sort of like a tiny air bubble). Open cell foam is more flexible and softer than closed cell foam and can expand 100 to 120 times its size, which can reduce costs for larger projects.
- Closed cell foam is the opposite of open cell foam. Closed cell spray foam is extremely dense, expanding into every nook and cranny leaving zero space in the cells. Closed cell foam expands about 33 times its size. Although a little more expensive, closed cell spray foam has a higher R-value compared to open cell foam.

Where can I apply spray foam?
Walls: seal small cracks, reduce noise, increase home energy efficiency, and indefinitely save on heating and cooling costs.
Roofs: increases moisture protection, enhanced energy efficiency, maximizes wind resistance, and increases the lifecycle of your roof.
Crawl spaces: seal small cracks, noise reductions, increase energy efficiency, and reduce monthly energy bills. More on crawl spaces.
Gaps and holes: seal small gaps and holes around electrical outlets, windows, ductwork, or cracks in other building materials.
Attics: create air barrier to prevent drafts, minimize humidity and moisture, reduce energy bills. More on attics.
Basements: create a barrier against pests and insects, increase energy efficiency for finished basements, reduce monthly energy bills.Other applications: box sills, knee walls, and sloped ceilings. More on basements.
